How Real Sociedad brought back the Number 10

¡Disfrutar! 1. This was a great video! Imanol just arrived at Olympiacos, and I wanted to learn more about how he plays and what to expect from him. We don't have enough attacking players atm to support his playing style with two forwards, unless we use someone like Bailey or Jota up front. As for the No. 10 role, we've got people like Freuler and Fortounis who may not be as great as David Silva, but should be good enough for the job! I'm not sure he'll follow through with these tactics, which could work well in the Greek league but may not be as effective in the Europa League when you're facing someone like AC Milan or Leverkusen. Remains to be seen, I guess.

  2. As always, amazing content. My team plays in a 442 diamond so this video serves as Game Model inspiration.

Where do you get the data from? Those tables show really advanced metrics. I see the 'defensive line height', probably from markrstats?

  3. Nice video ! We miss that 10s! BTW you mentioned Bergkamp which was not a classic number 10 but a second striker actually and Ozil but forget young Ronaldinho Gaucho, Zidane, Alex, Djalminha, RIQUELME,Aimar, Ortega, Gallardo…

  4. The game has changed drastically and Some Managers often prefer balance in the game than relying on one player to do the chance creation. It affected so many baller’s like Dybala, Ozil, Rodriguez and Coutinho. Players like Bernardo Silva, Kevin De bruyne, Bruno Fernandes adapted to the game and can play the classic no 10 role, which requires more intensity and team effort than personal play.

  5. To add to this analysis, the 4-4-2 diamond system tends to provide width in the form of a fullback going all the way and one of the two CF(usually the fastest) going wide the other. In fact, many Argentinian teams from back in the late 90's and 2000's had some variation of this. One of the forward was a classic 9(tall, strong, good heading) and the other was fast and mobile creating width on both sides, while on of the fullbacks attacked the space. Argentina even used this system back in the World Cup 2006(Riquelme the 10, Tevez/Saviola/Messi the fast forward, Crespo/Cruz the number 9 and Sorin the fullback) and Copa America 2007 and, poorly executed, in South Africa 2010. I wonder how Real does it though.
